a media hyped response to upcoming snowfall where people irrationally panic about the impending storm. typically accompanied by school, work and road closings before the snow has even begun to fall. frequently, the snowverreaction is followed by a lower-than-forecasted acc-mulation.
the news headlines claiming the blizzard of the century was coming caused everyone to snowverreact and shut down everything before the snow even began to fall.
