an effect particular to people who frequently play quiz games on sporcle.com, whereupon they easily remember obscure facts but forget glaringly obvious ones.
oh this is great, the sporcle effect in full form here. i remembered kyrgyzstan and papua new guinea, but not the friggin’ uk!
when one person is on sporcle.com (often at school or in a workplace) everyone in a ten-foot radius becomes instantly distracted and joins them in the sporcle quiz.
“man, i have this math test in 2 hours, i really need to study!… wait… is that sporcle? fsm! the answer is fsm!”
-3 hours later-
“wow… i totally flunked that test… d-mn you sporcle effect!”
