straight-guy hug
an awkward embrace, usually between two heteros-xual men who are uncomfortable touching each other, in which each person uses only one hand to hold the other person close and uses the other hand to pat, slap, or punch the back of the other person. a straight-guy hug is used to insure that no one watching will think the two people are intimate or have an emotional attachment or s-xual attraction to each other. women and gay, bi, or trans men who are uncomfortable touching one another may also use a straight-guy hug.
