subint


a subint is a person who is the “subject of interest” in a police or legal investigation. as opposed to the unsub, the subint is known to the authorities. they may or may not be a suspect, but are never a ci, who are referred to as such.

in intelligence circles, this can also be used to refer to a person targeted by the intelligence agency for information collection.
judas is a subint for the vip murder, bring him in and let’s find out what he knows.

fritz is our subint, let’s get some ears and eyes in his apartment.
