subnetting is a way to break your tcp/ip network into sub networks, known as subnets. it’s a lot more complicated than it sounds, or than it appears at first glance. although it seems a little redundant, without it there would be no internet. we all owe a lot to subnetting ,and subnet masks, and the crazy people that invented it all.
