the act of agreeing to positively represent someone, an organization, or a cause (i.e., to serve as a proxy, delegate, or surrogate) and then to completely undermine that role by speaking ill of, trashing, or otherwise exposing the inherent fallacy of the message you were supposed to communicate to a larger audience (e.g., telling the truth or cogently disseminating the opposing viewpoint’s argument).
