The Catcher in the Rye

if you really want to hear about it, the first thing you’ll probably want to know is how many pages it is and what year it was written, and all that pointless kind of cr-p, but that stuff bores me, if you want to know the truth.

the catcher in the rye is a cl-ssic novel narrated by holden caulfield, a depressed and lonely teenager who shuns the world of adults and all its phoniness, and dreams of catching children from falling off a cliff. holden has a very cynical outlook on other people and is constantly wondering if there exists a place in which he can truly feel a part of. practically the only person in the entire novel that he is able to communicate with is his little sister, phoebe. he had a younger brother named allie who died of leukemia a few years prior to the narration who he thinks the world of. its obvious that his mental state and overall outlook on life has been largely shaped by his brother’s death.

this novel is so deep and realistic that i lack the ability to properly do it justice. when you finish reading this masterpiece you’ll wish that old salinger was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up whenever you like. it’s one of the few things that i can think of that i get a big kick out of. people who don’t like this book depress the h-ll out of me. they really do.
human- the catcher in the rye is a masterpiece! i have never in all of my life been able to relate so much to a literary character as i did with holden caulfield! he is my hero!
phony- are you serious?! that book is so lame. it’s just about a whiny, emo kid!
the best book ever.
cynical, witty, cl-ssic.
any open-minded individual can relate to holden in their past or in their own life as of now.
an absolute masterpiece.
j.d. salinger rocks my socks off, man.
an amzingly written book.

its overlooked by most people because its a “school book”
i dont like reading it in school beacause my teachers read way into all the meanings and symbolism and cr-p.
i loved “the catcher in the rye” when i read it on my own, but now that my teachers ruined it for me, i kinda try to avoid it.
emo boy’s bible.
emo boy 1- “i’m so upset today.”

emo boy 2- “omg just read the catcher in the rye. it always makes me feel better. holden knows the truth.”
a novel which many people of the world should avoid reading, as they simply would not understand the meaning of the word “phony”, a word which is repeated several times throughout the book.
i thought about being a catcher in the rye, but i don’t really like people that much so i thought i’d just let them fly off the cliff.
a book of, by, and for phonies!
friend 1: holden, you are a phony.
friend 2: who’s holden? let me beat my son.
one of most overrated novels of all time. basically about some f-ggot named holden and his physicadellic adventures, that eventually lead to him going crazy.
only emos and people with menatl disorders like the catcher in the rye
