the clique series

a series written by lisi harrison. some of the books (in the order in they were published) are:
1) the clique
2) best friends for never
3) revenge of the wannabes
4) invasion of the boy sn-tchers
5) the pretty committee strikes back
6) dial l for loser
7) it’s not easy being mean

the series is about the pretty committee, a clique formed by m-ssie block. this clique includes:
1) m-ssie block – miss “queen bee”. very rich and loves to have everything her way.
2) alicia rivera – the “spanish beauty”. prettiest girl at ocd. m-ssie’s “beta”, or “second-in-hand”.
3) claire lyons – a total loser. m-ssie mocks her sometimes, but they are very good friends and m-ssie teaches claire how to be pretty committee material.
4) dylan marvil – daughter of merri-lee marvil, who has a talkshow called “the daily grind”. obsessed with losing weight, even though she’s already skinny.
5) kristen gregory – blonde, smart, and athletic. super-strict parents, and hid the fact that she’s poor until the third book, revenge of the wannabes.

these girls rule ocd, and have everything their way. they are all rich (except for kristen) and wear everything designer.
the clique series is a kick -ss book series!
a book series by lisi harrison that is meant for people 11-14. if your older you may think the book is stupid, immature, or pathetic but thats because its not meant for you. this series one of the #1 new york times bestselling series. it consist of 9 books:

1. the clique
2. best friends for never
3. revenge of the wannabes
4. invasion of the boy sn-tchers
5. the pretty committee strikes back
6. dial l for loser
7. it’s not easy being mean
8. sealed with a diss
9. bratfest at tiffany’s(coming in february 2008)

lisi probably will be making more. there is five main characters.

m-ssie block-with her glossy brunette bob and laser-whitened smile, m-ssie is the uncontested ruler of the clique and the rest of the social scene at octavian country day school, an exclusive private girls’ school in westchester county, new york. m-ssie knows you’d give anything to be just like her.

dylan marvil- m-ssie’s second in command who divides her time between sucking up to m-ssie and sucking down atkins diet shakes.

alicia rivera- as sneaky as she is beautiful, alicia floats easily under adult radar because she seems so “sweet.” would love to take m-ssie’s throne one day. just might.

kristen gregory- she’s smart hardworking, and will insult you faster than you can say “my haircut isn’t ugly!”

claire lyons- the new girl from florida in keds and two-year-old gap overalls, who is clearly not clique material. unfortunately for her, claire’s family is staying in the guest house on m-ssie’s family’s huge estate while they look for a new home. claire’s future looks worse than a bad prada knockoff. but with a little luck and a lot of scheming, claire might just come up smelling like chanel no. 19…

(i got that stuff from the back of the first book) i think its alot like gossip girl for younger kids except gossip girl is a lot different. also, on lisi’s website she says there may be a clique movie coming in may 2008.
my little sister is obsessed with the clique series, she already pre-ordered bratfest at tiffany’s.
it is a series of books written by lisi harrison aimed towards tween girls who enjoy reading about cliques, popular kids getting whatever they want, and completely unrealistic school settings. the series has become quite popular and can be found in many borders and barnes&n-ble’s across the u.s.

it’s not neccessarily bad…it just depends on what kinds of books you like to read.
back in middle school, i decided to read one of the clique series books since many of my friends were in love with it…and then turned out to be weirded out/dissapointed/bored due to said book.
literally the most pathetic book series i’ve ever read. and i should know, because i’ve read the first 5 books in the series (only out of boredom and because each book takes about a 1/2 hour to read. go ahead, call me a lifeless loser.)

this lisi harrison woman calls herself an author–and yet she has the vocabulary of an 8 year old. “m-ssie looked proud.” “claire felt confused.” very sophisticated writing right there. she also can’t come up with more than one plotline. if you take out the details, all the books are exactly the same: at first, m-ssie is perfect and popular. then, someone comes in and threatens her position at the top. oh no! thankfully, m-ssie’s -ss-kissing “friends” step in and save the day. hooray! m-ssie is back on top. once you get to books 2-3, you start to think “haven’t i read this before?” that’s because you have. once you get to books 4-5, you start to realize that it’s the same story each time, and the author just fills in the blanks with details. most of the characters are the same way. the four original “clique” girls (m-ssie, alicia, dylan and kristen) have the same personalities ane are pretty much interchangable. the fact that one is poor and another is on a diet doesn’t change anything. claire, the new girl, is different though–at first. when i started reading the first book, i expected that it would be about how claire overcomes the clique and gains confidence. nothing happened in the first book, so i read the second one. by the end of the second book and the beginning of the third, claire got sucked in to the clique. now she is molded to the rest of the characters, and the books have no purpose except to show how m-ssie gets everything she wants. this, i’m guessing, goes on throughout the series (if i find time to read the rest of the series, i will, because i’m curious how idiotic the books actually get).

if you are very very bored like i was, then you’ll probably get an hour or two of mindless entertainment out of these books. if you want to read a book about shallowness that doesn’t take an ounce of thinking, then this is definitely the book for you. otherwise, stay away from this book.

the clique series is a waste of paper and ink.
