The Departed
1. a cl-ssic film by martin scorcese, a remake of the hong kong film “infernal affairs”, starring leonardo dicaprio, matt damon, jack nicholson, mark wahlberg, martin sheen and alec baldwin. follows boston mob member frank costello (jack nicholson), as he recruits an orphan (damon) at a young age for his mob.
the movie itself focuses damon as he works for nicholson, but infiltrates the state police, and leonardo dicaprio, who is working for the state police but who infiltrates nicholson’s crew. the film revolves around each “rat” trying to figure out who the other one is, and is a great ride all the way. it won awards, and was recieved with overwhelmingly positive reviews by critics. the film’s theme focus on the line between authority and vigilante, cop and criminal, especially during the third act.
2. a film with possibly more usage of the word “f-ck” than many films put together
some great f-cking lines from “the departed”:
billy costigan: n-body’s f-cking searching me, search me for f-ckin what?
frank costello: contra-f-ckin-band, take off your f-cking shoes
billy costigan: f-ck you! f-ck you, i’m f-cking arresting you!
ellerby: f-ck yourself.
dignam: i’m tired from f-cking your wife.
ellerby: how’s your mother?
dignam: good, tired from f-cking my father.
french: f-ck it!
billy: where the f-ck were you?
delahunt: you’re f-ckin late, get in the f-ckin van!
sullivan: just kill me! just f-ckin kill me!
dignam: whoop-dee-f-ckin-do, you’re no f-ckin cop!
a great movie directed by martin scorsese that won best picture of 2006. slightly overrated.
