a necessary evil in any company or organization to have the most incompetent or idiotic individuals in managerial positions, so that the competent staff can do the real work that needs to be done.
unlike the peter principle that states that people get promoted to their next level of incompetency, the dilbert principle encourages most incompetent individuals to occupy management positions, where they are less likely to create chaos in or do harm to the organization.
