The Gilded Age
the name that -ssociated with america in the late 1800s referring to the extravagant wealth and the terrible poverty that lay underneath. in other words, america is not the same in reality (on the inside) than what it looks on the outside.
looks like a good life is ahead—not what was expected (the gilded age)
