The Kamina Effect
sadness and shocked derived from when a character in a story is heavily implied to be a major player (or even a main character) only to be suddenly killed early in their arc. named for kamina from tengen toppa gurren lagann. notable examples include maes hughes from fullmetal alchemist and ned stark from game of thrones.
“holy sh-t, man. the red wedding f-cked me up. i feel so blindsided.”
