Vincent Chin
june 19, 1982: vincent chin, a 27 year-old chinese american, was beaten to death with a baseball bat in detroit by two caucasian men. the perpetrators were ronald ebens and michael nitz, who blamed j-panese carmakers for detroit’s problems in the auto industry. for this brutal hate crime, nitz and ebens were sentenced to three years of probation and $3,780 in fines and court fees but never served one day in prison.
