wannabe goth

a young person (usually between the ages of 12-17) who thinks they are goth, but they really have no idea what the gothic subculture is about. symptoms of a “wannabe goth” usually include: way too much eyeliner, too much ugly black lipstick, a wardrobe consisting of all black clothes, stupid looking chains and/or spike collars, and a cd collection consisting mostly of marilyn manson, korn, nin, orgy, and the like. if you are a parent and you fear that your child is a wannabe goth, have no fear, this is just a p-ssing phase. once your child’s friends decide that it’s no longer “cool” to be goth, or when they feel they have adequately p-ssed you off, they’ll get over it.
my friends and i loath the wannabe goths at school who listen to horrible metal music and talk about suicide all day.

‘x’ (not his real name) loves blink 182 and good charlotte, as well as new found glory and eminem. he wears a tonne of sh-t on his arms to school and a spiked choker on his neck. he is constantly telling evry1 how coll goths are. he wants to be a goth and is fooling no-one, but he doesnt realise it…. whereas me, i just have longish hair and like metallica and machine head so to most chavs at school i am a goth… hahahaha. even the chavs know x aint a goth… hahaha.
a kid or teenager who tries to be a goth, but gets the wrong end of the stick. usually seems to think it revolves around metal, marilyn manson, slipknot, and other similar bands, wearing as much make-up as possible and hating your parents.

a person who tries to hard to be a goth, or does not try hard enough. resulting in a cross breed look of a goth and an emo with the greasy long hair of a metal head.
wannabe goths usually have long greasy black/brown hair, over sized band hoodies, cheap baggy pants finished with disgusting shoes that look like goth boots but are just fake.
this look is then accessorise with lots of chains dog collers and of course piercings sticking out of their pale garish make up with various emo styled eyeliner that seeps past the end of their eyes and makes a couple of twist and turns before finally drifting off into their hair. they are also very depressed unlike real goths whome are not depressed they are just stuck with this label due to wannbe goths.
also they believe bands such as blink 182, bowling for soup and avril lavigne goth music which is not correct.
so if these people are seen please tell them to hang around with real goths.
