originated from shanghai. white (or black) foreigners walking across the road without checking the sides. extremelly dangerous in shanghai because the cars do not stop when pedestrians have green light and sometimes ignore red light or a stop sign. called ‘white’ because whites are the biggest western minority in shanghai.
