the first world in super mario bros. that begins with a coin block, a mushroom, more coin blocks, then has four pipes. the fourth one leading to a secret underground area where one can get coins. then there is a secret 1up mushroom, a pit, a fire flower, another pit, more coin blocks, a starman, some blocks, another pit, a pipe that comes out of the underground entrance, a coin block, another pipe, and blocks designed like stairs leading to the flagpole. one of the most iconic levels in video game history.
guy: so yeah, i was walking in world 1-1, and this goomba totally came out of nowhere!
other guy: yeah, that happens to me all the time.
