a war caused by imperialism. while commonly believed that the war was caused by alliances, european powers would ignore treaties as they pleased. there was also no official alliance between serbia and russia. the blame for this war rests mostly with austria-hungary for seizing the opportunity for war, and russia, for getting involved for no reason and making ww1 a world war instead of an occupation of serbia’s capital. this war is accossiated with the somme, verdun, and trench warfare, ignoring the fighting on the eastern front and italian front, as well as everywhere else.
ww1 was supposed to be the war to end all wars. then ww2 came along.
