XUV
short for cross-over utility vehicle. dating back to the early 1950’s, they are automobiles with a sport utility vehicle appearance but is built upon a more economical and fuel-efficient unibody construction. cars such as the moskvitch 410 and amc eagle, are cl-ssic designs of early cross-overs. the crossover design has become a new trend in the automotive industry that some say was revived from j-panese makes, such as the nissan murano. mainly built for the new age of “mpg” and emissions, they are simply platform economy cars with a larger, more reinforced body and engine.
