the action of a zoo putting down a perfectly healthy animal because they have become “surplus”. examples of this are marius the giraffe and the nine lion cubs a zoo in sweden admitted to euthanizing. usually a cowardly act put forth by zoos which probably shouldn’t be allowed to run in the first place.
