a belief originally perpetuated by charles darwin, that all life originated from single-celled organisms. and a big bang. this belief contradicts creationism, which believes a supreme being, generally g-d, created enough kinds of animals for natural selection to take effect, and the variety of species today is a result. evolution is not the same as natural selection
