fine j-panese author of urban magic realism. novels such as ‘dance, dance, dance’ and ‘the wind-up bird chronicle’ have made murakami one of the most popular writers in his native country with young people. his story of young love in the 1960’s ‘norwegian wood’ was a sensation when it was published in the 1980’s.
