lolita is a nickname for delores. it is also a term used to describe a prep-b-scent or adolescent girl who is attractive and s-xually responsive. she l-sts after older men, and is l-sted by them in return. the term originates from the vladimir nabakov novel ”lolita” which told the tale of the love affair between middle aged humbert and his 12 year old stepdaughter lolita. it became a popular term in the 90’s when the teenaged amy fisher who shot the wife of her older lover joey b-ttafauco, was called ”the long island lolita”. the term was also used a lot during the controversy surrounding the 90’s remake of the 1962 film version of lolita directed by the late stanley kubrick. the film which starred jeremy irons and was directed by adrian lyne, had trouble finding backers due to the controversial subject matter. 14 year old dominique swain played the t-tle character, and the fact that a child actress was playing an underaged character involved with s-x with adults fueled the controversy. lolita is also used as a euphemism for child erotica, child p-rn, or barely legal adult p-rn.

there are several tyles of lolita:

gothic lolita: clothing is dark blues, reds and blacks. very similar to victorian mourning garb, only with shorter skirts. a prime example is the brand moi meme moitie.

sweet lolita: light pastle colors and florals, lots of lace, and more childlike. an example is the brand baby the stars shine bright.

cl-ssic lolita: shorter versions of clothing that looks like it is from the french and english country side during the 1900s. less lacey and more mature looking.

c) j-panese street fashion depicting victorian clothing, popular betwwen teens, young women and even boy (a good example is mana). this style has nothing to do with gwen stefani and everything to do with mana from malize mizer, as he was the one that made it popular. it’s very different from the american and uk goth style.
it has three main variations:
sweet lolita: the main object is to look as cute and pretty as possible, imitating either a victorian child or a victorian dool. it has curly hair styles (mainly), lace blouses, puffy kneelngth (or a little shorter) skirts, lace gloves, lace-trimmed stockings or tights, platform shoes, adn a variety of hairpieces from bonnets to ribbons. it may include teddy bears or super dollies and a variety of handbags and parasols. capes are also used the colors are pastels and lots of white.

gothic lolita: it’s darker than the sweet lolita as it depicts victorian mourning clothing, even if they still wear kneelength puffy skirts. the colors are darker, and handbags may include coffin and bat shapes.

cl-ssic lolita: cl-ssic lolitas dress still in vcitorian clothing, but it is a little more mature, less lacey, and the object is not to look like a doll or shild anymore.

there is a counter part for lolita style: ega or elegant gothic aristocrat. this is used by boys and young men, and sometimes by women too.

a j-panese fashion consisting of poofy knee-length skirts, lacy tops (normally blouses or cutsews), pretty knee-highs or tights, and lots and lots of lace. has absolutely nothing to do with gwen stefani.

gothic lolita: basically the darker side of loli. best example is mana’s clothing line moi meme moitie
sweet loli: the more sweet side of loli, most common colors are pink and blue. best examples are baby the stars shine bright and angelic pretty.
kurorori: basically a lolita who wears nothing but black. even if it’s a gothic lolita dress, if it’s all black, it’s a kurorori dress.
shirorori: a lolita who wears nothing but white. even if it’s a gothic lolita or a sweet lolita dress, if it’s all white, it’s shirorori.

note: if the skirt becomes too short, or there is not enough lace or poof, it is no longer loli.
when i visit tokyo, my favorite thing to do is go shopping in my favorite store, angelic pretty, and meet up with my lolita friends.
lolita is very popular in j-pan and in other countries. there are many styles of lolita so i just most (if all) in one def.

cl-ssic lolita:
this is basically more traditional; it’s filled with more earth-tones and jewel colors. they also have floral dresses fabric patterns. the clothing is sometimes frilled, but not over done, traditional, maid-style apr-ns. this style basically tries to be more victorian.

sweet lolita or amaloli:
this is more light-colored: colorfully patterned outfits, with lots of lace and frills. the dresses are knee-lengthed. they try to look as sweet and cute as possible.

gothic lolita:
this is likely the most popular style of lolita. the colors are usually black, white, navy or burgundy. the makeup are dark in color, with black eyeliner(not all), and red or black lipstick(again, not all), while the other lolita are more light. the accessories that go with it are pocketbooks, hatboxes, handbags, and other teddy bears.

punk lolita:
this combines punk fashion with lolita. they wear things like plaid, buckles, safety pins, and chains. garments like blouses, skirts, one pieces, and jumper skirts are also worn. the footwear is mostly boots, mary janes, and platforms. the colors that are often used are black, white, and red.

wa or kimono lolita:
this is traditonal j-panese clothing mixed with lolita. usually a kimono top is worn with a lolita skirt.

aristocrat or elegant lolita:
this is more what mana of moi dix mois wears. he instead combines gothic lolita also. this is the more mature version of lolita and it embodies elegance.

kodona:
we often see girls that wear lolita. this a more manly version of it.
this is more victorian with knickerbockers, masculine blouses, shirts, trousers, and knee socks. this is often worn by schoolboys .

dandy:
this is a more mature version of kodona. this is bascially inspired from the 19-century europeans.

lolita fashion is the att-tude of punk rock with a petticoat thrown under the plaid skirt.and however rude this may sound,gwen stefani seems to know nothing of j-panese fashion.her “twist” on lolita is to make it look sl-tty which does not help when trying to explain to someone that there is no relationship between lolita fashion and s-xually active young females.sure,they took the name,but they gave it a new spelling.the reason that term was used was because when you think lolita,automatically you think “young-girl”. rather it be a s-xual thought or a thought about clothing.
one more thing;just because someone wears a bunch of lace,too many layers to count,and an over-sized (or under-sized) head-piece does not automatically mean they are a true lolita.just like any other label,just because you look the part,does not mean you are genuine.lolita is about starting your own little reality.lolita is about doing what you want,regardless to what people tell you.lolita is being able to say “i like this” or “i dont like that” or “i will do this” or “i will not do that”.anarchy is a part of lolita.beauty is a part of lolita.to become a true lolita,you must have both the att-tude and clothing to succeed.
i once had a girl in a hot topic-bought lolita dress start to tell me about this “new” fashion called “gothic lolita” that gwen stefani discovered.mind you,i had been wearing lolita clothing to school that whole year.
