preppy rock
rock music that is played on the top 40 stations/radio disney/adult top 40 and is liked by preps. usually the singers sing about cleaned up, preppy topics such as girlfriends, boyfriends, going to the beach, having a lot of money, the prom, going to parties, etc. the guitars are not as heavy and the music is happier and more melodic.
preppy rock: boys like girls, faber drive, nickelback, 3 doors down, simple plan, good charlotte, hawthorne heights, bowling for soup, jonas brothers, all american rejects, fall out boy.
real rock: tool, trapt, nirvana, rolling stones, ac/dc, van halen, the doors, etc. ocean avenue is a true example of preppy rock.
