Rovespeak

the verbicidal manipulation of the english language, common in politics but exemplified by karl rove. closely related to framing.

from newspeak, the language in george orwell’s 1984. newspeak was the state approved version of english, which was being gradually whittled down with the goal of creating a language in which it would be impossible to have an unorthodox thought.
terrorist used to mean someone who used violence or threats of violence to frighten a populace, usually as part of a group with some political end. the word has been twisted to mean “anyone who opposes the bush administration in any way” – a great example of rovespeak.
