Safe name
n. a name you use for talking about someone when you don’t want anyone to know who they are, but still want to find out their opinions about the person in question. usually an extremely common name that no one could use to find out about a certain person.
girl 1: so then… um, emma said that john was way too ugly, and dumped him, even though he’s a total sweetie. what do you think?
girl 2: wow, that’s seriously b-tchy.
girl 1: (i’m glad i used a safe name, “emma” is this girl’s best friend.)
