to calm ones self down. one may be told to ‘settle their kettle’ when over reacting, getting excited, or being a douche bag.

to complete the task at hand without fuss.
“can we please settle the kettle? i really want to eat now”. or he just settled the kettle. we do not need to work on it anymore.
