1520 sedgwick avenue is the birthplace of hip hop, or the big bang of hip hop. it all happened during a back to school party in the recreation room, the party was hosted by kool dj herc, what he did was only play the break section of a certain song, which would typically be a funk or soul song, and people would dance to that. this happend on august 11, 1973, south bronx, new york city.
