Americal Division
the 23rd infantry division of the united states army. formed during wwi in the pacific. reactivated for the vietnam war. based in chu lai. generally operated in the southern 3 provinces of military region i (i corps). it was the largest infantry unit in vietnam, gained noteriety for the my lai m-ssacre.
the americal division fought in some of the bloodiest battles of the vietnam war.
