when you have affectionate/romantic feelings for your boss, but company policy doesn’t allow dating between management and employees, so one has to put their feelings aside for the sake of professionalism. used in the same manner as ‘friend-zone’, or ‘bro-zone’.
employee 1: hey why don’t you and john date?
employee 2: company policy doesn’t allow. i’ve got to boss-zone him.
employee 1: hey i think you and employee 2 have a shot. why not go out with them?
boss: i can’t. i got boss-zoned.
