Coppens
a wierdly spelled polish name (usually last). it was spelled copens, but some ancestors decided they’d be “funny” and changed it to coppens. it confuses everyone a whole bunch because it’s pr-nounced cope-pens. but people almost always pr-nounce it as cop-pens, as it is spelled like that, but it’s not pr-nounced like that. it gets really annoying when day after day, someone doesn’t pr-nounce your last name correctly. then after they fail miserably at saying your last name, you have to correct them.
guy 1: h-llo, bob coppens.
guy 2: noooo!!!!!! god!!!!! it’s coppens!!!!!!!!! get it right, would you????!?!?!?!?!
