gut choke
a word (n.) defining the moment when one is too overtaken by emotion to continue as planned. usually involving the attempted expression of love or sadness. always involving tearing up and a choking feeling.
the guy was h-t by a gut choke as he tried to sing a song he had written to his girlfriend, as she was readying to leave for a trip. fortunately, he had written the lyrics down on an envelope, she read them, and the day was saved.
