inode
hacker-speak for the phrase, “i know”. the word was originally part of the unix implementation by ken thompson of bell labs. in unix, an inode is a file definition. it is part of a cylinder group, which is part of a filesystem, which is written on a disk drive.

the node structure for an element of vfs is called a vnode. in hax0rspeak, vnode is used to one-up someone after they say “inode”..
