‘Ow do
a shortened version of ‘how do you do?’ which is again shortened to ‘how do?’ and then finally to ”ow do?’
originally derived from the impression of mel b on channel 4’s programme bo selecta in various sketches, where comedian avid merrion dresses up as an exaggerated version
mel b: “‘ow do? mel b ‘ere. so is spice girls getting back together?..well wouldn’t you like to know?…well so would i! ‘cos no b-st-rds phoned me! so i c–nt (couldn’t) tell ya!”
