when one unintentionally steps in, or is otherwise submerged, in a puddle.

a person who acts as if they have accomplished a lot in a given field, when in fact, they are unaware of how much they still need to learn. “puddle” comes from the fact that the person thinks they have mastered something as large as the ocean, but really have made relatively little impact.
when i moved to the states, i realized that the market i had “dominated” was really small on a global scale; i was just a puddlef-ck.
