Reviteer
an update of the cad monkey: an employee who uses current bim ie building information modeling cad program revit for an architectural or engineering firm – all day, every day.
taken from the walt disney term ‘imagineer’; it is based on the false notion that revit/bim will somehow free the production staff to embark on some n-bler adventure -to actually practice architecture/design- when, in fact, they are still just cad monkeys; only with more complicated software.
i thought using learning the new revit platform at my architecture job would free me from my mundane cad drafting by making the design process more streamlined and accurate, so i could partic-p-te in the decision making… but it’s just the same job with a differnt toy. but now instead of cad monkey, you’ll have to call me a reviteer!
