Southwest Philly Floater

a shot in basketball where a smaller offensive player floats the basketball over taller defenders who swat helplessly at air attempting to block it. also known as a teardrop or floater, the term was coined by la salle guard tyrone garland, who honed the craft of this shot as a youth on the rugged streets of southwest philly. he ended ole miss’s sweet sixteen dreams by dropping the sw philly floater on them for a game winner in the 2013 ncaa basketball tournament, making him an instant philly hoops legend.
