Throwing it Back

throwing it back is whenever you ask someone a question, and they (annoyingly) ask you the same exact question in return.
these are all examples of “throwing it back”:

“what are you talking about?”…”what are you talking about?”

“what are you thinking?” … “what are you thinking?”

“where have you been?”…”where have you been?”

whenever this happens, my brain starts to hut and i feel like i’m doing some kind of abbott and costello routine. obviously, when i say, “what do you mean?” – i mean “can you explain yourself further?” so, whenever someone returns my “what do you mean?” with another “what do you mean?” i shut it down and say nope – you can’t just throw it back. and it stops the madness from ensuing.
