Juval Noah Harari: “Will we lose our freedom in the battle with the mocker?
Yuval Noah Harari is an Israeli historian and professor of history at the Jewish University of Jerusalem. He is also the author of the well-known books “Sapiens: A Brief History of Man” (2014), and “Homo Deus: A Brief History of the Future” (2016) which were a great publishing success in many languages. In his writings he deals with the issues of free will, conscience, individual rights, technology and intelligence.
In an article in the Financial Times, which has been widely read around the world, Yuval Noah Harari wonders if we are ready to sacrifice our privacy to protect our health, as the authorities are urging us today.
The fact that we were forced to stay home to avoid the uncontrollable spread of the virus, gave us free time to visit 13wins super casinos and spend many pleasant hours betting on the exciting games it offers. But the social isolation they imposed on us gave many the opportunity to read what the Israeli historian says nightmarishly about the gloomy hours to come.
In his article in the British newspaper, Harari refers to two important choices we face today. On the one hand, the choice between total oversight by superpowers not controlled by the people but by dark centers of power or the empowerment of citizens, and on the other hand, which path we will follow between nationalist isolation and global solidarity. But 13wins also offers a large selection of betting events, with high odds, trading security and a handy graphical interface.
“One of the problems we face is that we don’t know exactly how they are watching us and what they will bring in the coming years,” the historian said. “Monitoring technology is growing rapidly, and what seemed like science fiction a few years ago is now commonplace. Suppose a government demands that every citizen wear a biometric bracelet that monitors body temperature and heart rate 24 hours a day. The resulting data will be stored and analyzed by government algorithms. The algorithms will know that you are sick before you even realize it and they will also know where you went and who you met. ”
One might argue with Harari that such biometric monitoring can be justified during an emergency, such as the current coronavirus epidemic. In this, the author opposes that “temporary measures always last longer than emergencies, as there is always a new state of emergency that awaits on the horizon.”
The Israeli thinker also spoke at length about the need for global co-operation in both medicine and research and on the economic front: , the result will be chaos and a deeper crisis. We need a global action plan and we need it immediately, “he said.
