Pairwise Randomization
used as a justification for fixing a draw in a sporting event. instead of using the accepted 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7… etc. seeding system, the organiser of a tournament may decide that 8 has a greater chance of beating 1 than 7 does and therefore may chose to draw the tournament so that 1 plays 7 instead.
“i’m not sure that this racketlon tournament will be won by the top seed. we had better use pairwise randomization to make sure that our local favourite gets to the final!”
